Safeguarding
At Stokes Wood we are committed to ensuring children learn in a safe, caring and enriching environment. Children are taught how to keep themselves safe, to develop positive and healthy relationships and how to avoid situations where they might be at risk.
All staff through training and induction, will know how to:
- Recognise indicators of concern
- Respond to a disclosure from a child
- Record and report this information.
We will not make promises to any child, and we will not keep secrets. Every child will know what the adult will have to do with any information they have chosen to disclose.
Our Safeguarding Team
We have an OPEN DOOR POLICY. You are always welcome in school to discuss any worries or concerns you have, about your child, another child or yourself. The Pastoral Team are available at most times during the day. Other staff are available before and after school or by appointment.
As a school have statutory responsibility to share any concerns about a child in need of protection with other agencies and in particular police, health and children’s services.
In most instances, we will inform parents/carer of the need to make a referral. However, sometimes the school is advised by Children’s Social Care or police that the parent/carer cannot be informed whilst they investigate the matter. We understand the anxiety parents/carers understandably feel when they are not told about any concerns from the outset. The school follows legislation that aims to act in the interests of the child.
It is advised that ALL parents/carers are familiar with our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy which is available on this website and on request.
